Phosphate rock (Ca5F(PO4)3) is reacted with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) to produce triple super phosphate (CaH4(PO4)2.H2O or TSP). The phosphate content in TSP (17 – 23 wt% P, 38 – 52 wt% P2O5) is greater than that in super phosphate (7 – 9.5 wt% P, 16 – 22 wt% P2O5).
Uses: TSP is used mainly as fertiliser by itself, it could be blended with potassium and nitrogen fertilisers to produce compound fertilisers (NPK).
